Happy New Year!
I love a new year, it’s a great time to dream, plan and create for the next 12 months of your life. A time of reflection for what worked for you over the last 12 months and what didn’t go so well. Then it’s time to look forward and set some goals for the year. When it comes to blogging, I believe this reflection and planning is a great way to keep focused during those periods when you don’t feel quite so motivated. I’m not talking about New Years resolutions, which might not even last for a week but trackable goals to get you closer to your blogging dreams.
Let’s Reflect
When it comes to the last 12 months, it’s important to pick out your successes (no matter how small) and applaud yourself for them. Take a look at what you enjoyed doing and what you didn’t, plan to do more of the fun stuff over the next 12 months.
It’s also good to look at your stats for your blog and social media, compare them to the previous 12 months – You might be surprised by the results. I know I was!
Let’s Plan
Next, comes the really fun stuff. Planning your future to make your blog the place you dreamed about when you first began. No matter where you are on your blogging journey you can set goals and begin to create the blog of your dreams.
Things you may want to consider when you set your blogging goals for the next 12 months:
- Do you want to make an income from your blog? If so, how much?
- What number of email subscribers would you like?
- How many followers on the different social media platforms would you like?
- How often do you intend to blog on a weekly/monthly basis?
- What will you blog about for the next 12 months?
- What would you like your life to look like in 12 months time?
I believe your blog can be a gateway into creating your dream life, whether you want to blog for a hobby and enjoy opportunities and a small additional income or you want to use your blog to grow it into a business of its own. Or maybe, your dream is somewhere in between. By having a goal and a plan of where you want to be in 12 months time helps you to break down the rest of the year into smaller chunks so you know what you have to do each month, week and day to keep moving you closer.
I also recommend keeping your options open about how you will get there. You may discover new ideas and opportunities along the way you’ve not thought about yet.
It’s a good idea to check in with your goals every week and month. I’d also recommend doing a bigger evaluation every 3 months, there may be things you want to add in or remove as you and your blog evolve.
Goal setting and dreaming big can be so much fun. To help you I have created this free workbook to guide you into making these 12 months your best yet!
Happy blogging!
