After last years birthday post I thought I’d keep up the tradition and share what myself and Keil did to celebrate our birthdays! Our birthdays are only 3 days apart so we tend to celebrate together – This is also good because it means there’s only one birthday weekend a year!
The weekend began early on Thursday which was my birthday. As we knew the next few days would include a few drinks and some meals out we started the day with a trip to the gym! It was nice to go at 9am, the weights room was quiet and we did some chest, biceps and abs – We also took advantage of the lack of people and took a few photos for Voltage Sport.
Next we went into Leeds and after the gym we needed a refuel so headed to Pizza Express. As it was my birthday I treat myself to pizza and prosecco – We also finished with a limoncello. Then we had a little walk around and explored a few bars which I hadn’t been to before on Merrion Street. There is a lovely little row of bars with outdoor seating and so we moved between Soba, Mojo and Manahatta. The weather wasn’t sunny like when we went to Mojo in Barbados but it was pleasant to spend the afternoon sat outside with a glass of wine or two.
Once a fair few hours had passed and a quick stop for a Tiger Tiger happy hour drink we went for dinner. For the evening we booked into The Botanist which is always a favourite. I enjoyed the hanging chicken kebab and we had more prosecco! After dinner we made our way back home, after a really enjoyable day.
The next morning we were going to go on a bike ride but the weather was horrible with rain lashing down almost all day. Instead we took some time to chill out, not something we find we do very often.
Saturday we spent some time at Pennine Cycles before going to the launch of my hairdressers new salon, Redheadz in Shipley. We spent a couple of hours here and then walked towards Saltaire. We tried the Cap and Collar which we’d not visited before and it was really nice. Afterwards we had a couple of drinks in the Tramshed before getting a cheeky Dominos for tea!
Sunday was Keil’s birthday and after a little lie in and a smoothie for breakfast we decided to walk along the canal. It was nice to move after a few days of indulgence. We arrived in Bingley which was probably about 3 miles the way we went and stopped at the Potting Shed for nachos. It’s really nice to sit outside in one of the sheds!
We had a few more drinks and decided to go home and I offered to make a curry, rather than going out for one. I have to say it was delicious and one I may share in the future! We cracked open more prosecco and enjoyed the night in.
Monday was Keil’s last day off from his day job so we decided to go for a bike ride with my step-dad Paul, I usually go out with him on a Monday. We went on my longest ride which was 35 miles, with a stop at Settle for some food in the middle. I was pleased I have been able to increase my mileage so quickly!
In the evening we went back out with Paul and my mum to Valentino’s in Bingley to end our birthday celebrations! As usual we enjoyed a delicious Italian meal.
It was another packed birthday weekend which was really enjoyable!
