After arriving in Palm Springs and visiting the Tramway the day before we had one full day to explore. I was so excited to be visiting as it was somewhere I’d always wanted to go. We got up early, picked up our camera and set off.
It was a little bit cloudy first thing, despite being in the desert it didn’t get too hot all day! As it was early it was fairly quiet and most of the shops hadn’t yet opened. The main street reminded me of something from an old movie – Picture perfect in every way. I couldn’t get enough of all the different types of palm trees and took far too many photos!
After strolling around for a little while we decided to get some breakfast. We opted for Ruby’s Diner which had some outdoor seating. We watched the world go by and gradually the rest of the town seemed to wake up.
We did a little bit more walking and then went back to our hotel. The Avalon, was gorgeous, the rooms were very modern, there were water features all around and 3 pools. We decided to have a few hours of pool time as we hadn’t had too much time for relaxation. It was nice to be able to chill out and read a book for a few hours.
It was a Thursday and it was the first night of the NFL draft, having a sporting brand at Voltage Sport and being in the USA we decided to watch it live. At home, it is usually on in the middle of the night. We got ready for the evening early as it started about 5pm and quickly grabbed a happy hour drink and appetisers at the hotel – These were delicious.
We went to watch the draft at The Village Pub, a sports bar which we had checked would be showing it in the morning. Again we had some happy hour drinks and got into watching the show. There was a great atmosphere as the draft is a big deal for NFL fans. It is where each team gets to pick their future stars.
After it was over for the evening we were ready to eat and went to Grind Brgr Bar for some good burgers! It was really busy everywhere, at the weekend the Stagecoach festival was starting. We had a great day and night in Palm Springs and the next morning we were ready for our final adventure on this trip going back to Las Vegas.
