Whilst on our American Roadtrip myself and Keil had 3 nights in Los Angeles. After a fantastic day exploring Griffith Park and going on the Warner Brothers Tour, the next morning we decided to go for a drive.
You can watch my vlog from the day here.
Mulholland Drive
We were staying near Mulholland Drive – It’s a long, winding road going up into the Hollywood hills. Fortunately there are lots of pull in areas so we could stop and take some photos of the view. As we went higher the view got better and better.
There are also plenty of hidden homes up there too. This would be an incredible place to live or even stay, I know I spotted a few Air BnB’s in the Hollywood Hills when I was researching somewhere to stop.
Hollywood Boulevard
After our drive around we left the car back at our bungalow and went for a walk towards Hollywood Boulevard. First stop was to find somewhere for lunch. We settled on the California Pizza Kitchen which is in a complex next to the Chinese Theatre. You could even see the famous Hollywood sign from where we were.
After lunch we walked along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, stopping for a few photos of famous stars.
We walked all the way to the end of the Hollywood Walk of Fame and back to the Chinese Theatre where we checked out some of the foot and hand prints. It’s incredible to think of all the famous people who had stood where we were!
We needed a quick break and went for ice cream at Ghirardelli’s, somewhere we loved when we had been to San Francisco a few years earlier.
After so much walking we decided to spend a couple of ours relaxing at our Air BnB which had a little outdoor patio area before getting ready for the evening.
Sunset Strip
At night we went to the Sunset Strip. Our Lyft driver dropped us off at the Mondrian hotel which has a rooftop bar, again with a cool view. It wasn’t overly warm that night but it would be great on a hot summers day.
There’s a certain section of the strip which is famous with places like the Viper Room and The Roxy. We found a cute, little Italian restaurant called Amarone next to the the Viper Room where we had an incredible meal before going for a few drinks. It was a Sunday evening so the vibe was very relaxed and it was fairly quiet but fun to have visited such a famous area of LA.
Rodeo Drive
The next morning it was time to leave central Los Angeles and go for one night in Santa Monica. On the way we drove along Sunset Strip again, through Beverley Hills and had a walk on Rodeo Drive. It was fun to walk up and down exploring and taking some photos.
We then set off to Santa Monica for the next stage of our adventure!
