Today is day 3 of Alex Beadon’s Feel Good Blogging Challenge and the challenge is to give a guide or tutorial on something I know how to do.
This was a tough one as I know how to do lots of things but I finally decided on a subject and I think it’s a good one. It’s something I wish someone had shared with me a long time ago! Yesterday I wrote about how I had increased my confidence through having my own business and I went from struggling to talk to people to addressing rooms full of them. I still feel I have a long way to go but I thought you might like to know what changed.

Over the past couple of years I have worked on my own personal development. This has happened mainly through reading self-improvement and business books. I love to read but when it was first recommend for me to read self-help books I couldn’t think of anything worse.
I don’t need help – Was my first thought.
Of course I did need help, every one of us can improve and continue to learn new things. Eventually the books got bought and they looked great on the book shelf in my home office. They weren’t read for a while.

I finally decided to read some books after it was suggested to just read 10 pages a day. So that’s what I did and I’ve not looked back. Reading various different books has had a huge impact in my life. They have explained why I think and feel certain things and they have encouraged and helped me to believe in myself, increased my confidence and just made me a better version of me.

Wow, you got all that out of a book? Yes! Well lots of books actually. It’s incredible to think that a few minutes of reading each morning can make such a difference to my life.
Over the past few years I have also had times where I decided I didn’t need to read anymore and when that happened my self-belief also took a slide too. I don’t think this is a coincidence.

So there you have it, my one top tip to increase self-worth, self-image and self-belief is to read each day. If you read 1 book a month by reading 10 pages a day, in a years time you will have read 12 books – Think how much you could learn by reading 12 books on self-development!
Where would I start? Here are a few of my favourite books to get you going if you decide to start reading to improve your mindset:
You Were Born Rich – Bob Proctor
The Success Principles – Jack Canfield
What To Say When You Talk to Yourself – Shad Helmstetter
Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway – Susan Jeffers
Business Stripped Bare – Richard Branson
Do you read self-development books? If so, do you have any recommendations?!

I recommend Arianna Huffington’s Thrive. It is a great book for work – life balance.

Great suggestions! I found the book “What to say when to talk to yourself” extremely helpful. Love the concept of Self Talk and today is the last day of my 30 day self talk challenge. It’s amazing!
