This summer myself and my boyfriend went on an exciting trip to America, some of the trip was business and a bit for pleasure. Our first stop on the trip was to Phoenix, this is where our business conference was being held and the reason we were there.
We touched down in the evening after a long day of travelling. It was dark when we headed out of the airport but the heat was still there and hit us hard, Phoenix is super hot in August and was well over 100 degrees night and day.
We arrived at our hotel which was the Scottsdale Embassy Suites, this was my third visit to Phoenix and second to this hotel so I knew the ropes. The staff at check in were very friendly and our suite was lovely.
The first morning of our trip we were awake early due to jet lag so we went for a morning walk around the golf course which the hotel is situated on, that was nice but even at 7am the heat was evident!
One of the best things about the Embassy Suites is breakfast’s included. You can have cooked to order omelettes, a hot buffet, fruit, bagels and lots more. We tried our best to not overindulge as this was the first part of a 3 week trip and we didn’t want to put on too much weight at the start.
We got 2 other perks as well. The first is you can use a free shuttle bus to local shops and restaurants, this was great for us as we didn’t have a car at the beginning. The other perk is there is a free happy hour every night, which means for a couple of hours you can have free drinks and snacks. What a great bonus!
Due to the fact we were at a business conference (which was amazing) we didn’t see much of Phoenix itself. We did manage to fit in a quick shopping trip and visited 2 restaurants.
Z’Tejas was the first, I love Mexican food and they didn’t disappoint. It was delicious and I also had a nice cocktail. There was a group of us and 3 of us had birthday’s in and around the weekend and so the restaurant gave us 3 to die for desserts!
The second restaurant was Picazzo’s Italian Organic Kitchen. I have never been to an organic restaurant before and it was nice to know the food was organically sourced, it was yummy as well!
Although it was a short trip, as we had lots of other places to visit, we enjoyed Phoenix despite the heat!
Have you been to Phoenix? When I come back where do you recommend visiting?
