A Day in the London: The Ritz & Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

Me and mum went to London for a couple of nights in July. We had a wonderful few days exploring the city. On our first full day in London, we went to The Ritz and saw a West End show.

I documented the day as part of my Day in the Life series:

A day in London

We stayed at The Royal Horseguards Hotel in central London which was a lovely hotel and a great location. Our stay included breakfast which I went for a full English. Then it was time to explore some of the city.

Outside of The Royal, Horsegurads Hotel are a number of gardens along the River Thames. We had a little walk around and took in the sights of the river. We then walked up to Trafalgar Square and Picadilly.

Of course, we popped into Fortnum and Mason’s, they always have incredible displays. Before going to The Ritz we nipped into Green Park which is next door to see the elephant exhibition which was taking place.

It was finally time to go to The Ritz, it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go. It was busy, especially for afternoon teas – I believe you need to book well in advance for those.

We were booked for drinks and originally booked the new outside terrace but because the weather had been hit and miss, we were moved to The Rivoli Bar.

Cocktails at The Ritz

I went for their special Ritz 100 cocktail which was delicious, before opting for some champagne.

The Ritz is definitely very lavish, which you would expect from a British institution. We had great service and a fabulous couple of hours.

After The Ritz, we had a few hours before our West End show so we called into San Carlo for some pasta and risotto.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

At the time of visiting, the West End was beginning to re-open after lockdown and we had 2 shows cancelled so Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Apollo was third time lucky!

I didn’t know much about the story and I was really pleasantly surprised, it was a fantastic show! Great songs, fabulous performances and an uplifting story. Shane Richie was staring in it too.

As we left the theatre England we’re in extra time of the Euro’s. I was sad to have been missing it but the show was worth it. There were lots of people were stood outside anywhere with a TV for those final minutes and a large police presence.

As we arrived back at the hotel, I turned the TV on in time to see the winning celebrations!

It was a brilliant day in London going to The Ritz and seeing a musical after so many months of lockdowns!
