Over the last few weeks, I’ve taken a few planned breaks from blogging. For the last year I have blogged a lot, worked with clients, launched my first online course and evolved my blog into a blog helping others shine online. It’s been quite a year!
As October and November came around I completed my first blogging challenge and the first launch of Trigger Your Blog. Afterwards, I was tired and looking forward to my holiday to Barbados. As usual, when going on any trip there is always lots to do before and so instead of pushing myself even more to write blog posts for whilst I was away, I decided to take some time off blogging. It felt right for me to take a break.
Taking a Blogging Break
Whilst sat in the Caribbean sun, I took out my notebook (after a few days of complete relaxation on the sunlounger and hanging in the pool ) and I came up with lots of different ideas for my blog, for the New Year and some great content inspiration. What I learnt most of all is it is ok to take a break from blogging.
During Trigger Your Blog, I advocate and teach consistency with blog post writing. This is really important to grow an audience become an authority and to build your blog. However, there are a few exceptions to this:
- If you are struggling with other things in life, sometimes they need to become a priority for you.
- You need a mental and creative rest.
Until I went away I didn’t realise I needed the break. By taking a break there is a high chance you will feel refreshed, inspired and it can help you think of your next step. When you are busy your brain has so much happening in there, so many thoughts going around but when you have some chill-out time your body and mind relax and this allows you to think of new ideas you may not have thought about otherwise.
Don’t Be Scared
At the time of writing this blog post, Christmas is almost here. If you feel like you need to take a break but are nervous or scared, it’s ok to have a blogging rest – You may even think of your next big idea whilst doing it. Give yourself permission to take a week or two off from blogging. Keep your notebook or phone with you and then if you think of some new ideas you can make a note ready for your blogging resturn. As we are about to enter a new year it is also a good time to think about your goals and aspirations for the next 12 months.
A break now will mean in the New Year you will be ready to go. Rested, recharged and full of new ideas for the next few months.
If you don’t feel like you need a break right now – You may be full of ideas and inspiration at the moment, there will come a point when you will need one so please remember to take it.
