Whenever I visit nice restaurants and enjoy a delicious meal I always think how good it would be to make the recipe myself. So when I was asked to recreate the famous Copthorne Meatball from the Copthorne hotel in Sheffield I took up the challenge.
Here is my version of the Copthorne Meatball!
I made a few substitutions from the original recipe and in typical Caroline fashion I didn’t read the instructions until I was ready cook. This meant I didn’t have time to leave the meat to rest or wrap the meatballs in cling film before cooking. I don’t think this was detrimental to the recipe, however if you have time then follow the original recipe and allow the meat time to chill!
This was the perfect meal for a midweek date night and it was nice to cook a new recipe. It’s very easy to make the same thing each week so it was good to mix things up.
I have to confess – My food pictures and presentation are certainly not up to restaurant standard but I have to say it did taste good! I practiced taking some photos with my new camera too.
I now need to visit the Copthrone Hotel to taste the real Copthorne meatball to see how mine compared or should I say how the chefs compares to mine! 😉

Let me know if you try this recipe, I would highly recommend it! When I first read the instructions I thought it was going to be a stressful hour in the kitchen but it was actually fairly simple to make, it’s just a case of bringing everything together at the end!
What’s your favourite recipe to make which a little bit different from your normal routine? I would love you to comment below, I am always looking for new recipes to try!

I have tried and miserably failed recreating my favorite dishes. I guess having someone else cook it for you adds up to the pleasure of eating…
