Last month I made the decision to sell one of my businesses, The Content Edit. It was quite a quick decision but one which probably was coming for a while if I sit down and analyse it.
The Content Edit is a platform I have built over a number of years that came out of a combination of my love of blogging and also freelance work so I wanted somewhere to bring these together. At the time I offered social media management to small businesses and so it was handy to have everything under one brand.
I worked hard to build the brand, it’s something I am good at and we became known for our content creation tips and advice. Over the years I have offered content coaching, content audits and online courses plus some digital products.
Whilst building The Content Edit, I have since launched 2 other product businesses, have my personal brand and blog as Girl About West Yorkshire. I have always been able to manage this as I can use the skills I had as a social media manager to run my multiple brands.
When lockdown arrived, like many business owners I was at home 24/7 and although sales dried up for a while and it was a scary time in the business world, the one thing it gave me was time. I had all day to work on my businesses and focus on the important things.
During that time I properly launched my business Dreamers who Travel, worked on Voltage Sport and focused on my personal brand here as well as growing my West Yorkshire Instagram account.
What I noticed, after lockdown, is I didn’t spend as much time on The Content Edit as I could have done. There were so many more things I could have worked on during this period and I didn’t do them.

Why I am selling my business
Towards the middle of 2021, I was feeling a little bit overwhelmed with my businesses and lack of balance as the world opened up and I wanted to get out there again. I started doing a lot of work on myself. I took some quizzes around my personality and looked into what brings me joy.
It was after this I realised that The Content Edit and what I had created wasn’t bringing me as much joy as it once did. Although I love some of the elements of it, such as seeing my clients thrive – I just felt like at this time, it’s not the direction for me to be moving.
At the moment, I get so much fulfilment from my product businesses and from building my personal brands which includes blogging. I also want to write a book and I needed to make space for that.
In my product businesses, I have been able to start building a team to help me and there is a lot of “hands-off” work that gives me time. I found that with The Content Edit, I didn’t have this and it needed me to put more of myself into it.
As 2022 is here, it felt like the perfect time to say goodbye to The Content Edit. I have put it up for sale and I know it’s a brilliant brand which can be taken in lots of directions by its future owner.
I’ve learnt so much from building this business and there’s nothing to say I won’t go back to including some of the things I used to offer in the future but for now, I am closing The Content Edit with lots of love and thanks for everyone who supported the business over the last few years.
There are still various ways to work with me and I will continue to update this page as appropriate. Click here to find out more.
