As I am writing this we are heading into June 2022, almost halfway through the year and what a year it has been so far! I wanted to share a life update including some reflections from the last few months, some learnings and some future plans.

2022 so far
The year my life has been dominated by my broken ankle which happened just before Christmas. It’s over five months later and I am still walking using my crutches which is really frustrating. I always knew the recovery would be a challenge but I could never have imagined it would take this long to be able to walk again.
The physio a few weeks ago said one of the bones I broke was the hardest to break which can also mean it’s the hardest to heal. Although the fracture itself is healed, the problem I am having at the moment is the movement and flexibility to keep my heel down when I walk. In fact, when I do go out, which hasn’t been that often, I am obsessed with seeing how people walk as it’s not something I’ve ever thought about before as it usually comes so natural.
Having this long recovery period has given me time to focus on my businesses but also I’ve probably had too much time to overthink, rather than just getting on with the important things.
Just before my accident, I put The Content Edit up for sale and whilst I was in a pot this was completed and it is something I am so pleased about as I feel like no longer having this business has allowed me so much space for more things.

As a multi-passionate person and multiple business owner I am always coming up with new ideas but now, without The Content Edit, I feel like this personal brand can be about anything I want. Before, I always felt pressure to teach and share the best content.
Now I can focus on my e-commerce businesses, which don’t require me to be the face of them (at least not all of the time), I have recently started my podcast and I love YouTube too and would like to put more focus there.

One of the things I hate is when someone asks me what I do. I do so many things but I am finally embracing that and being proud of being a multi-passionate and multiple business owner. I have even created a course about it which launched this month.
This last week, I’ve started watching The Kardashians, after a few years of not watching them. I have been reminded how they do so many things and have multiple businesses each which I think is inspiring. You don’t have to just do one thing in your life.
As I haven’t been doing much out of the house, I haven’t always felt creative so I have skipped odd weeks for my blog and podcast. I believe in consistency, I even recorded a podcast about it. I also believe in giving yourself grace and time when you need it. So I’ve allowed myself to create when I’ve felt like it because this recovery period is a strange time in my life but I know it won’t last forever.
It’s not easy to film or take photos when you are using crutches so I am being patient when I need to be and things will happen in the future when I can walk without them and life returns back to normal.
One of the things I did manage to do was travel to Barbados. Although it was a very different type of holiday, at the time I was still waiting to see if I needed an operation (I didn’t) so I wasn’t very mobile but I am so glad I went. It gave me a boost, helped my recovery and it’s pretty hard to not have a good time in Barbados!

The rest of the year
Of course, my number one priority right now is healing my ankle and being able to walk again. This goes without saying and I can’t wait until the day I can ditch my crutches!
Business-wise, my focus is on product development for my online shops to keep bringing out new designs, test them and see what people connect with the most. I need to ensure all of the foundations continue to be in place ready for the end of quarter 3 and definitely for quarter 4.
From a creative standpoint, I want to keep blogging, recording my podcast and filming more YouTube videos. I think giving myself this fun element to brand building is just what I need. Plus, I love looking back at things myself and this platform allows me to do that.

Whilst I have been recovering I also created The Yorkshire Edit. I already had an Instagram account dedicated to Yorkshire which is where I live and have rebranded. I did it because there was a campaign I was doing with a brand but in the end, I had to postpone so it is a little bit in limbo now until I can get out and about properly again. Fortunately, I have some wonderful photos from the last few years to keep sharing.
I would also like to dive deeper into EFT or tapping as it’s known. I have been using it for all sorts of things in my life including my ankle healing. I have even taken a certification in it whilst I have been at home but I would like to have a deeper understanding to help myself and ultimately others in the future.
Finally, I want to get my fitness up and my weight down. I have already started working with a personal trainer to help me. It’s very common to put on weight with a broken ankle and as my recovery has taken longer, I wanted to get started in losing some of the weight so no more gets put on. Then I can slowly start my fitness journey again. It’s so frustrating as I was in a good routine and was actually going to the gym when I fell and fractured my ankle.
I feel like this should have been an end of June update but I am hoping that in another month I will be walking and out and about so much that I won’t have time for one!
