About a week a go, I shared a post on my Instagram feed about the power of gratitude. It was interesting to see the positive response the post received. I thought I would expand a little more about the power of gratitude and how to add it into your day.
Writing a gratitude journal is something I began doing a few years ago. Each morning I would write about 4-5 things I was grateful for. I really believe it starts you off on a more positive note to begin your day and sometimes I would find myself looking for things to be grateful for throughout the day. More often than not I’d write down similar things each day because there are a few things, such as my health, which I am truly grateful for.
I Am Grateful
When I write down my daily gratitudes I begin them with “I am grateful for”, followed by whatever it is I’m grateful for. I will admit sometimes there seems to be an abundance of things to be grateful for and other times it feels a bit more challenging.
For some reason, I stopped writing in my gratitude journal for a while. Although the effects of doing it aren’t instant, now I have started again I do feel more positive and some great things have happened to me, so I think I’ll stick with it! It’s much easier to write what you are grateful for when things are going well but I would encourage you to do it especially when life isn’t as rosey. If you are struggling you can write about things which you want to happen but haven’t yet in the present tense.
I got back into writing my daily gratitudes when I purchased The Five Minute Journal. What I like about the journal is you write your daily gratitudes, a positive affirmation and what you want to achieve that day. Plus, in the evening there is a day’s reflection insert where you write down some great things which have happened to you that day alongside another positive affirmation.
Already, I feel much more positive each day and for that I am grateful.
