Last week I attended the 1st birthday celebrations of Bem Brasil which is situated on Greek Street in Leeds. They were having a special event to celebrate and as I’d not visited the restaurant before I took Keil for a fun evening out!
When we arrived we were provided with Caipirinha cocktails, a traditional Brazialian inspired drink to take to our table. As it was a special event we had quite a few of these cocktails throughout the night, they were pretty delicious! Keil also tried out a Brazilian beer and the sangria!
The main event at Bem Brasil is, of course, the food. There is a wonderful buffet in the middle of the restaurant with salads, chips, potatoes and so much more. My favourite was the garlic mushrooms. The buffet is so good you could almost just eat that on its own and be more than satisfied. The last time we ate in a Brazilian restaurant was probably about 8 years ago during a holiday in Cancun – I remember being so full at the end so I tried my best not to over indulge on the buffet bar!
You each have your own ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to meat mat on your table. When you are hungry you turn it green and if you have enough on your plate or want a little rest you can turn it to red. The meat is brought over to you and sliced directly onto your plate. I have to say there wasn’t one thing I ate which wasn’t delicious. There were different types of beef and steak, chicken, pork, gammon and lamb.
We tried a little bit of each, with a few breaks in between and sometimes added a few potatoes to our plate from the buffet to add to our meal. It was really superb food. A couple of times I had meat which was a little bit rare for me, the manager advised if you let them know you prefer it more well done they will come to you first from the kitchen or if you prefer if rare they will come to you later when some of the more cooked meat has gone. This is a great tip for my next visit as everyone likes their meat different so this caters to everybody’s needs!
For the birthday celebrations there was also live music, Brazilian dancers and face painters adding sparkles if you wanted them!
Myself and Keil both had a great evening and we will certainly recommend Bem Brasil as a great place to get a good meal! We came out feeling very full but content after a great night!
Have you been to Bem Brasil before or any similar Brazilian restaurant?
