October was another great month, it was very varied and lots of nice things happened. From cinema trips, a girls night out and lots of business inspiration too!
Girls Night
The month began with a girls night where we spent some time exploring the bars at North Parade in Bradford. It is great to see so many positive changes happening within my home city. We had a great night with plenty of cocktails, chats and general fun!
Conferences
I attended 2 business conferences in October! Brand Yorkshire in Harrogate and the Bradford Business Conference at Bradford College. Conferences are a great way to network and find out about other local businesses and what they offer. It’s also a good opportunity to listen to speakers for inspiration and information. I listened to some great speakers over the 2 conferences who really provided some great motivation.
Live Music
I was fortunate to attend BBC Radio1 Xtra Live in Leeds – I wrote about the night here. It was such a fun evening and it’s always nice to listen to live music!
A White Mercedes
I attended an Arbonne Car Presentation for Regional Vice President Leanne Davis in Lancashire. It’s always nice to celebrate the success of fellow Arbonne consultants. Within Arbonne you receive a cash bonus to pay for a white Mercedes-Benz once you progress to a certain level within your business. These celebrations are always lots of fun and it was a very inspirational way to spend a Sunday.
One In A Million
I attended the fundraising dinner for Bradford charity One In A Million at Bradford Grammar School. The charity help children engage through sports, arts and enterprise. Some children were awarded on the night for their success. It was a really enjoyable evening and great to support such an amazing, local cause.
Blind Pig Launch
I was invited to The Maven bar in Leeds, a hidden, speakeasy inspired bar to try out the launch of Blind Pig ciders. I’d never been to The Maven before and was excited to try it as I’d heard good things. If you don’t know where it is it can be hard to find and it’s dark inside (not great for photos) but I liked it! At the launch there were 3 ciders available to try Bourbon and Blueberry, Rum and Poached Pear and finally Whiskey, Honey and Apple.
I opted for the Rum and Poached Pear as I like to drink rum and I am a little bit fussy when it comes to spirits. Fortunately Keil came with me and he got 1 of each throughout the night so I did sample them all! They were all nice, they weren’t too sweet and would be perfect for the winter months. We were also treated to some canapés by catering company Bears Pantry who provided some delicious nibbles inspired by the ciders. It was a very enjoyable event!
The Movies
I also took advantage of my free cinema ticket which I get from my life insurance and went to see Sicario. It was a great film and I wrote a little review here.
