After a wonderful 3 night stay in Lancaster, me and Keil headed on a final adventure before it was time to head home. We drove to the seaside visiting Arnside and Morecambe.
I filmed the day as part of my Day in the Life series which you can watch here:
Visiting Arnside and Morecambe
We decided to drive north first to Arnside which was recommended as an outstanding area of natural beauty when I was searching for things to do in Lancaster. It’s about a 30-minute drive and we arrived mid-morning.
As it was a Monday it was fairly quiet and most of the Arnside shops and cafes were closed. We did manage to grab a sandwich at the bakery and sit on the pier for a little while.
Arnside Knott
After finding the public toilet, we drove up to the National Trust property of Arnside Knott. You can walk from the village to complete the circular walk but we drove to save time.
Arnside Knott is a hill with lots of woodlands. It was our first walk since the Yorkshire Three Peaks (read more here) and we didn’t want to go far so this was the perfect walk to back into it. From the car park to the Trigg Point and back (with a short stop) took us around 50 minutes. There are lots of different paths you can take up in Arnside Knott with stunning views across the water.
Morecambe
Once back at the car we decided to drive back from Arnside to Morecambe. Again this took about 30 minutes, Morecambe is about 10 minutes from Lancaster so it’s the perfect place to visit from there. We did this order so we could do our walk before we ate some traditional seaside fish and chips!
We managed to park up and walked up and down the Morecambe Bay promenade, stopping for a photo with the Eric Morecambe statue. We did research the best place for fish and chips in Morecambe but where we heading was then closed after 2 so we found a place on the seafront.
There was a long wait and they were ok but not as good as some of our favourite places in Yorkshire. We sat out looking at the sea, although it’s worth noting the sea is very far out during the day.
After a couple of hours of sea air, it was time to head home. It was the final day of our mini UK travel break. You can read about the day before in Lancaster here.
