After a relaxing few days in Orange County, it was time for the next part of our 2016 roadtrip. Myself and Keil drove (well, Keil drove and I sat in the passenger seat) to Los Angeles. I’ve driven through LA when visiting Universal Studios but never stopped and had anytime exploring, so this was another part of the trip I was excited about.
We decided to stick to the coast road and drove along the Pacific Coast Highway to be able stop at places along the way, it’s a much nicer view than the freeway! It’s fantastic to drive with the ocean at the side of you. We drove through Laguna and Newport, places we’d stopped at earlier in the trip. We then took some time to stop at Huntington Beach, which is pretty big and the area itself looks like somewhere we’d like to spend more time on our next trip. There were plenty of shops and restaurants as well as a great beach area.
We had a walk along the boardwalk and took some photos. It’s always nice to put your toes in the sand. We recognised a few bits and realised we’d driven through on our last trip on the way to the airport!
Arriving in LA
We continued the drive to LA and found our Air BnB. This was our first experience using the website and our bungalow was perfect for our 3 night stay!
After freshening up we decided to go explore for the evening. We were staying less than 5 minutes walk from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When you arrive in a new area it’s always good to get your bearings first – We had read the area we were staying in was safe and it was busy as it was a Saturday night.
Eventually we decided it was time to eat and we found Umami burger, I’d read they do great burgers and we weren’t disappointed!
As it was a Saturday night everywhere was busy. We had a couple of drinks in a sports bar before checking out the Chinese Theatre which was lit up in the dark. Soon it was time to head back to our new home ready for a busy Sunday!
