Whist on our trip to America myself and Keil booked an Air BnB for the first time. If you haven’t heard of Air BnB before it’s a website where people can offer their rooms or properties to rent around the world.
You can rent a room from someone and share the rest of their home with them or, like we did, you can rent a full property to yourself. After your stay, to help other people decide if they want to either rent the property or let someone into their home each person rates the other and leaves a review.
Booking Air BnB
I love the concept of Air BnB and the reason we looked into it for LA is we knew we wanted to stay in the Hollywood area and we found either very high-end hotels or very low-end hotels. When researching we found we could get an Air BnB for a similar price to the low-end hotels but the properties all looked much nicer and had better reviews.
To register on the site I had to use my passport to prove I was a real person and complete an identification process. This didn’t take long and then I could start to book on the site. As it was my first time using Air BnB I was a little bit hesitant so I did spend a long time researching different properties, reading all the reviews and looking at the locations. Finally I settled on ‘A Colorful Bungalow’.
Before arriving I received detailed instructions of how to find the bungalow, it was in a slightly awkward position on a junction so we missed it the first time arriving by car but once we knew where we went wrong it was easy to find! We had our own parking space and special instructions of how to get in.
We were really impressed when we arrived, the bungalow was certainly colourful, clean and had everything we needed for a 3 night stay. We even had been left some wine and snacks (this isn’t a norm for Air BnB but was an appreciated special touch). It really felt like a home away from home and we had a patio, kitchen and bathroom.
Due to the ideal location we could easily walk to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and we were a short drive to many of the tourist attractions in LA.
I would certainly recommend using Air BnB for a stay if you haven’t tried the site before. You can even receive £20 off your first booking and £50 when a friend joins via this link – You will then receive your own link to share!
