The final month of 2015 was here and what a great month it was! With the build up to Christmas time it’s always an exciting month and this year was no exception – There were trips to London, Brussels and Liverpool, Secret Santa collections, Christmas markets and both Christmas and New Year celebrations!
Secret Santa
December began where November ended with the Secret Santa Appeal. The appeal collects Christmas presents for disadvantaged children in Bradford and the surrounding areas. It was great to be part of this and it was a record-breaking year with 4500 presents collected! I also made it into the local paper again to celebrate.
London
I was fortunate to visit London for the day for Small Business Saturday. I went with my mum as Pennine Cycles were selected in the Small Business 100. We had a stall showcasing the bike shop and we were also visited by the Chancellor. We got the chance to visit Downing Street too. You can read all about it on the Pennine Cycles website. It was a great day.
Brussels
Early in December I went on a business trip to Brussels in Belgium were I was able to visit the European Parliament. I shared more about the trip here but it was an action packed and a very interesting 2 days.
Christmas Markets
Alongside visiting the Christmas market in Brussels I went to the market in Manchester twice. It’s one of my favourite markets as it’s spread out throughout the city centre so you can keep stopping at different points. It always makes me feel festive! I went once with friends and then another day with Keil where we also finished off our Christmas shopping!
Christmas
Christmas Eve was a really good day and evening. In the afternoon I met some friends for lunch in Haworth, which was followed by a mulled wine. Later I met Keil and we had a few drinks locally in both Saltaire and Bingley. It’s a bit of tradition to do this and it was a great day. Christmas Day was also nice, I was grateful to receive some lovely presents and in the morning we had some visitors and in the afternoon I cooked the Christmas Dinner for 5 of us. It was a nice day and it’s always full of lots of food and plenty of bucks fizz!
Liverpool
On Boxing Day myself and Keil headed to Liverpool to watch Liverpool v Leicester, followed by a really good night in Liverpool. The next day we went for a tour of Anfield football stadium. It was a brilliant few days and I wrote about it here.
In Between
There’s always a funny time between Christmas and New Year where you lose track of the days! Over these few days we had a day of chilling out, went for a walk and a few drinks and I also got a cold so I did my best to look after myself! We have had lots of rain and flooding so we were a little bit limited about what we could do!
New Years Eve
It’s been a long time since I went on a night out for New Years Eve, for a few years we had some house parties and recently we have had more relaxed evenings. This year we decided to go for a few local drinks into Saltaire and then on the train to Bingley. We came home about 9, got some pizza and then saw in the New Year at home watching the London fireworks on TV. It was a great night and a good way to bring in the new year!
December was a really good month and a great way to end the year! I’m looking forward to see what 2016 brings!
