After a day spent by the pool we didn’t have any plans on our final Saturday evening of our holiday in Barbados. We decided to have a couple of cocktails, first at our hotel and then at Bubba’s Sports Bar. We then started to get hungry so we hopped on a bus to St Lawrence Gap.
As we didn’t have any reservations we weren’t sure if we would get in anywhere. We decided to try the Italian restaurant Bellini’s. We had been before on previous visits and always enjoyed it. Fortunatly in August it is off season so we were able to get a table over looking the bay. Bellini’s looks out onto the small bay where there were fishing boats parked for the night.
Opposite is Pisces restaurant, this was closed – I hope not for good as this was always one of my favourites. Next to Bellini’s is the new Chez Max, this looked really nice. We didn’t have time to visit but it will be top of my list of restaurants on my next trip to Barbados!
We decided to have the set menu, much like Champers there were things on it I would chosen from the main menu so it made sense. The set menu also included a rum punch. To start with we both had mozerralla cheese sticks, these were really nice and came with a lovely tomato dipping sauce.
For mains I went for the lasagna (we spell it lasagne) and this was really tasty. They make the pasta fresh and you could certainly tell. It was cooked with a delicious tomato sauce, there was no cheese sauce in it either which made it different. Keil had steak which was very nice but he said my meal was best on this occasion!
For dessert Keil chose the cheesecake and I was quite full so had ice cream, expecting 1 small scoop it came in a sundae glass.
After dinner it was just time for the happy hour at Cafe Sol across the road, here I had a couple of rum punches. After this we headed to another couple of bars, it was fairly busy being Saturday night. We finished at the rum shack, listening to karaoke. It seemed like everyone there was a great singer!
