When visiting Barbados one of our favourite sports bars is Bubba’s. It’s very close to our hotel at South Beach and great if you want to watch some sport, have a drink or a bite to eat.
On this trip we first went to Bubba’s early on a Sunday morning to watch football, they open at 8am and the game kicked off at 8.30am so this was perfect. They have lots of screens all around the bar showing various sports and as there were a lot of people there for the football this was on most of the screens.
On a Sunday morning Bubba’s do a buffet breakfast which we had whilst watching the footy. They had cereal, fruit, pastries and a cooked breakfast. The hot selection included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, toast and fish. I didn’t have the fish but Keil said it was delicious. This was a nice treat as we didn’t have too many breakfasts out whilst away.
The best part of watching sport in Barbados is the people. Just like when we went to races the locals were very animated! We were watching the Liverpool vs Spurs game and when the first goal went in for Liverpool the fans ran around the bar and the tables to celebrate! Liverpool also were awarded a penalty and the 2 spurs fans at the bar were not happy. They were stood up complaining whilst their friends filmed them and spent the rest of the game trying to wind them up. It was all good natured and funny to watch.
The next time we went to Bubba’s was after a delicious meal at Naru restaurant and we stopped for a cocktail. There was a great choice of cocktails and we watched a bit of sport on the TV.
One night during the holiday we wanted a relaxing night so we headed to Bubba’s for tea. Here we shared some fish cakes to start and I had a chicken sandwich with chips and a side of coleslaw. The coleslaw was a little sweet for me but the sandwich was really tasty. We shared macaroni pie too, this is a traditional food of Barbados but we didn’t had too many opportunities to try it so when we saw it on the menu we couldn’t resist!
